How Did you get started?

I grew up with a single mother who LOVED to lift weights . She put me in swimming lessons and would work out every day while I swam. Despite being the strongest person I knew, she took her own life when I was 15. I would be faced with many adversities in my life. I came to a point where I needed a change. I needed to find my happy place. So, I became a cardio bunny because like most girls at first- I had absolutely no idea what to do in the gym. That was short lived. Until a year into my relationship- I had been nagging my boyfriend for spending so much time at the gym.  I started to research training philosophies and watched some YouTube & Bodybuilding.com videos. And finally took the leap to lift weights. Thankfully with the help of my boyfriend, I am now more “obsessed” with the gym than he is.

What motivates you to keep going and push harder?

Personally, when I set a goal there is no option of failure. I refuse to give up. What motivates me the most right now is training for Provincials 2017 after placing 1st in my class in bikini at the Knight of Champions. For some people 6 months or a year might seem like forever. But for me it’s something I strive towards day in & day out. It’s all of the small steps that lead you to the path of greatness.

What is your current training philosophy?

For the past three years I’ve loved lifting heavy, trying to push my limits and creating new PR’s. Currently I’ve switched up my program and split my training into three increments. I’m starting to incorporate powerlifting. First, I lift heavy typically doing 4-8 reps. Second, I train for volume. Light weight with high reps, finishing every muscle group with 7 sets and low rest times. Third is powerlifting! Which I really have no idea what I’m doing other than squats, deadlifts and bench. I want to continue learning and broadening my horizons!

What is your approach to nutrition?

Trying to create a healthy balance is my current approach for off season. This is why meal prepping is so important! Meal prep provides my nutrient dense meals, allowing room for me to satisfy my cravings and enjoy all the goodies ! I’m so grateful for an amazing company like MuscleFood for stepping it up & setting new standards for the industry.

How many calories do you consume in a day?

I try to get five solid meals in. Typically 2500 calories.

Do you bulk and cut or stay lean year round?

I love to bulk and cut! It’s very difficult being a women with my body type and gain any means of muscle mass. Bulking has really helped me add mass and it’s nice to switch up the goals!

What does your supplementation look like?

BPI Sports fuels all of my workout. I use a stack for my workouts; pre-workout, BCAA’s, and protein powder. And Creatine for my off season! I also take a multivitamin and use Hemp Oil as my main source of EFA’s.

During prep I add L-Carnatine into my diet to help metabolize fats.
