How did you get started?

I had always been fond of bodybuilding since a young age. While studying to earn his diploma in Massage Therapy, my oldest brother would leave Anatomy textbooks around the house. I quickly became fascinated with how the human body is the ultimate tool! I knew instantly at that point that I wanted to pursue a career that would allow me to work with individuals to build, strengthen and rehabilitate their body to unlock their potential! I had been involved in many sports growing up, however as I grew older my interest in building my physique to accommodate more aesthetic purposes began to grow as well. Of course, like many of us. I used Arnold Schwarzenegger for inspiration and as a role model to pursue Fitness and Health in my earlier days.

What motivates you to keep going and push harder?

For me, the fans and their stories of personal triumph truly shows me that anything is capable! If you want something in life you have to put in the effort to get it! No one will hand you anything, and even if they do, would you really want a handout?! Life is so much better when you relentlessly work towards your goals and ambitions to finally obtain your desires!

"What is the biggest challenge of being a pro?"

The biggest challenge of being a Pro Athlete is being 100% Natural competing at an open level where there is no longer any drug testing. This, of course, is my personal choice and I have chosen to remain natural despite many others I compete with being enhanced athletes, it is a challenge for myself and it truly supports my message that if I can do it, and win shows others can achieve something of the same for themselves! It is truly a blessing as remaining natural has forced me to put more emphasis on Nutrition and understanding physiology! Through this, I was able to learn approaches that will help other individuals reach their goals!

What is your current training philosophy?

How often do you change your training? (Full Routine)

I was performing 2-a-days for a bit!

I would perform 5 compound exercises every morning then perform GVT isolation exercises in the evening.

For example, 3 sets, 20 reps of Squats, Deadlifts, Military Press, Barbell Rows, Bench Press. I would perform this circuit 6 days a week. In the evening I would target and isolate 1 muscle group with 3 exercises and hit 10 reps maximum, however, putting heavy emphasis on 5-second eccentric contractions. I would change the exercises in the compound morning lifts each day while still hitting similar muscle groups.

What is your approach to nutrition?

I do not like to eat processed sugars or foods, everything I eat is organic and freshly prepared with no preservatives! I have gone further to see a Naturopath and now consume food sources that are low inflammation for my body and don’t put too much strain on my digestive system.

How many calories do you consume in a day?

Whether in my off season or competing I stay fairly lean year around. I will consume roughly 2500 a day!

Do you bulk and cut or stay lean year round?

As mentioned above I have been accustomed to staying lean year round. It is very easy for me to build muscle but I can gain fat even easier if I am not careful. My nutrition is a lifestyle for me and it is easier to balance eating the same foods every day! I don't mind if the food sources are "boring" so long as I am not starving, my focus is food is fuel! It helps me function and obtain my physical and professional goals!

What does your supplementation look like?

I am currently off of a lot of supplements. I don't usually supplement hard at all. I like to use essentials, like calcium, multivitamins, fish oils, magnesium, melatonin, and glutamine! I have cut my Whey Protein out and switch it to a Vegan based Protein! I am loving the taste and how quickly my  body digests and absorbs it!

What has been your biggest accomplishment in the fitness field?

For me, I have always been a proud Canadian, I am grateful that I was able to represent Canada at the IFBB World Championships! My entire family and friends were present at that show! I won the first ever World Champion title for Canada, in Canada and due to winning Gold, I was able to keep Canada as 5th out of 49 countries present in standings!

With that, I was able to also lock in winning an IFBB Pro show in Vancouver 2015 which qualified me as Canadas 1st ever Men's Physique Olympian! Following that, I was able to represent Canada yet again as the 1st Canadian Men's Physique Athlete at the Arnold Classic in March of 2016! Any opportunity I can get to represent my country is truly an honor!
