How did you get started?

I've been active and into fitness for as long as I can remember. I was pushed into soccer at the age of 4 and also found myself getting into an array of other sports. I participated in Track and Field, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Boxing, Karate and competed in Judo. I first started making fitness a priority when I was playing competitively in soccer and wanted to give myself an extra advantage. Most of my fitness at that time was related to power, speed, agility, and quickness. I started taking bodybuilding more seriously over these last 3 years and it all started after being involved in a motor vehicle accident. It really affected me and my old lifestyle of activity quite a bit, I wasn't able to do many of the things I used to in terms of sport so I took a hiatus. After reaching a certain point and not being happy with where I was at in both a physical and mental state I started looking into bodybuilding, the rest is history.

What motivates you to keep going and push harder?

I am motivated by believing I can accomplish anything. I like to put the power of positive thinking and hard work to the test and creating absurd goals and trying to accomplish them. But the thing is, to me, they are all realistic. So many people before me have done many amazing things with hours and hours of hard work and dedication and those are the ones who are rewarded. I like to think if I put forth the same effort that the same will happen to me.

How do you find having a meal prep service to make all your food?

Having a meal prep service has been a lifesaver for me. I find that there never seem to be enough hours in the day. Between work, training, personal growth, making time for friends and family and even being able to have a short time to relax I feel like I'm in a constant rush. Now with having a meal prep service I have HEALTHY options always ready and on the go...I get called into work, just grab some MuscleFood, buddies want to go camping for a weekend, grab my MuscleFood, get home from a weekend away and have to work the next morning...you get the picture.

What's is the biggest challenge of being a pro?

The biggest challenge of being a Pro is trying to stay relevant by competing in as many shows as possible. In Canada we have 2 Pro shows which are on opposite ends of the country, in the states, there are 5 just in 1 state alone. The budget and the travel are one of the hardest things to manage. Having to leave and miss a lot of work to compete on the Pro Circuit is another difficulty some of us face.

What is your current training philosophy? How often do you change your training?

At the moment I am training with heavier weight, shorter rep ranges (6-10) and also having longer rest periods (1.5 - 2 min). I am working on building my strength right now and with a good calorie surplus but on some extra size through the offseason here. Full Routine: What is your approach to nutrition? My approach to nutrition has always been to maintain a healthy balanced diet comprised of whole foods for 70% of my intake and the other 30% well...let's just say I do like to indulge as well. I keep it balanced, though, If I'm going to an event or bbq with food and drinks I will consume less prior to that. When I get into competition mode I crank the whole foods and healthy food to about 98%.

How many calories do you consume in a day?

It ranges, but for the most part, I am about 3500-4000 right now

Do you bulk and cut or stay lean year round?

I like to bulk and cut. For me I enjoy the bulking stages just as much as the cutting stages. Putting on more mass and having that calorie surplus certainly helps the weights go up a little easier. That being said I don't over-do it because some people just find that as an excuse to load their bodies full of crap. You need to stay balanced in your approach.

What has been your biggest accomplishment in the fitness field?

One of my biggest achievements was winning Canadian Nationals and my IFBB Pro Card in Edmonton after only 6 months of competition. I had aligned myself with one of the best coaches in the business, Darren Toma, and he had faith in me and we put in a lot of work to make that happen. Another major accomplishment was being featured on the Cover of Inside Fitness Magazine. It was such an honour to be on the cover of one of the most reputable magazines in the business. Many great athletes and people have graced that cover before me, including one of my all-time favourites, Greg Plitt.
