How did you get started?
I have always lived an active lifestyle. I played basketball and rugby in high school. Then in my more recent adulthood, I took to running 10k races and half marathons. A year and a half ago I was in search of something new, something more. I already loved lifting weights so when someone suggested I competed in bodybuilding, I jumped on board. I was instantly hooked. Soon after that, I met my coach and she led me to 2 shows. The most recent show I placed third in Figure and qualified for BC's. I plan to compete next in Women's Physique Division.
What motivates you to keep going and to push harder?
My absolute number one motivator is my 8-year-old son. I want him to see that he can do anything he wants if he works hard enough for it. I am also motivated by my desire to become the very best version of myself. Whether that means being leaner for my next show, a better role model for my son, or an active respected member of my bodybuilding community. I push harder to prove to those around me that anything is possible.

How has your recent cancer diagnosis affected your competition and bodybuilding plans?
I will have to postpone my next competition until 2018 after I have completed treatment. Although disappointed at first, I know that this is all part of the plan. I also know that if I had been diagnosed with cancer before I started bodybuilding I would not be as strong and courageous as I am now. And I am excited to share that strength with those who may not have as much as I do. My nutrition will remain similar, increasing vitamin rich foods to help fight the cancer.
What is your biggest accomplishment in the fitness field?
Without a doubt, my 3rd place finish at the Leigh Brandt Muscle Classic in March was my biggest accomplishment. I pushed myself harder than before, left no stone unturned. I am very proud of the package I brought to the stage. I look forward to pushing even harder next prep.
What does your supplementation look like?
With the guidance of my coach, I incorporate various supplements in my plan year round. Some of those include Vitamin C, Carnitine, Cinnamon, BCAAS, and Magnesium.
